Here is an update about our tender little rescue pup.  My boyfriend Carlos Miller took this picture of her this morning while I was still sleeping.

I was able to call today and get estimates for all the medical tests she needs to get done.  I’m a bit heartbroken since my savings account is not looking too good these days.

Ruby keeps improving and adjusting to her surroundings.  She looks up from her bed frequently and is relieved when she finds me or Carlos, sort-of  an “Oh, there you are…” Ruby moment. It’s funny how in a few days we have become so attached to each other.

Carlos wrote the following post on his Facebook wall today:

“Ruby Tuesday, the stray dog I plucked from a busy road Tuesday night, has been cleaned up and fed and been getting loads of rest in her new bed, but she appears to have some age-related health issues, including at least three tumors on her body, arthritic hind legs and significant loss of hearing, which would explain why she didn’t seem fazed by the cars blowing horns at her in traffic.Nevertheless, she is a very sweet dog who enjoys car rides.

My goal is to return her to her owner but I’m getting the impression that she has no owner (perhaps her owner was an old lady who passed away). She was scanned for microchips but there was none.

Rachel Luli Mestre and I are making arrangements to take her to a vet to get a complete check-up, but it is going to cost more than $300. And that’s supposedly cheap because it’s the Animal Welfare Society.

We’re hoping we can raise some donations to help pay for the costs, which include the following.

Office visit: $24
X-rays: $90
Blood work: $66
Heartworm check: $28
Fecal test: $15
Rabies vaccine: $15
Rabies tag: $65
Total: $303

This total does not include any medicine she might need to take and it also does not include the cost for the biopsy on the three lumps she has. There might be additional tests needed, but we won’t know until the Vet checks her out.

To all my readers, if you have a few bucks to spare please help by clicking the paypal link above and making a donation.  Ruby Tuesday, Carlos & I would greatly appreciate the help!
For those of you that have already sent in donations, we are truly grateful and thankful for this kind act of sharing.  Please accept our sincerest gratitude!
